Not Just for Honors Students: the Value of Undergraduate
Research and Creative Activity for Student Engagement and Retention—A
Roundtable Discussion
Undergraduate research and creative activity, mentored by faculty, are
high-impact practices for increased student engagement and retention.
While opportunities have traditionally been available for honors
students to engage in these activities, this roundtable discussion will
provide a venue for interdisciplinary dialogue on the importance of
expanding opportunities to a greater number and diversity of students,
as well as the variety of ways in which this is possible across the
campus at Rhode Island College.
Facilitated by Breea Govenar (Biology), Chris Lambert (Learning for
Life Program), Chris Marco (Psychology), and the B-RIC (Building a
Research Inclusive Community) committee.
