The moving of water along aqueducts, or water bridges, for agricultural and human needs as been in existence dating before Roman times.  Portugal has many extraordinary examples of these ancient structures, fourteen of which are featured in this outstanding photographic exhibition.  Originating at the EPAL Water Museum in Lisbon, under the direction of its curator and the exhibit's photographer, Pedro Inácio, this traveling exhibit is now available for viewing throughout the summer of 2015 at the James P. Adams Library at Rhode Island College.

This view of Portugal's historic water bearing structures will be of interest to students of architecture, engineering and Portuguese history. Viewing is available at anytime during operating hours at the Adams Library.

This exhibit is sponsored by the Day of Portugal and Portuguese Heritage in RI, Inc., the Institute for Portuguese and Lusophone World Studies at Rhode Island College, the General Consulate of Portugal to Boston, the Vice-Consulate of Portugal to Providence and the Instituto Camões. We are grateful to the photographer for this exhibition and for the James P. Adams Library for hosting it.
