This thoughtful film examines myths about women and Islam. Renowned Muslim feminist scholars detail how different understandings and translations of the Qur’an lead to enormous repercussions for women in different Islamic societies. The film alternates between history and contemporary issues—the wearing of the veil, prayer in the mosque, and domestic violence.
