Did you know 60% of RIC students are first generation? These students have
many challenges to overcome, and we, as advisors, are wonderful resources for
them. The thing is, we need to “walk in their shoes” a bit to understand how
best to help them.
The office of the Director of Faculty Advising and the Faculty Center for
Teaching and Learning will host a discussion about advising first-generation
college students. To begin the conversation, we will watch a short film, A
Walk in My Shoes.
Pizza and beverages will be
served!
